Knife Work with Paulo "GN" Rubio

This 4-hour seminar will cover fundamental empty-hand vs knife concepts from detached and entangled positions.  Students will engage in a principle-based approach to initial defenses (parries/blocks/interceptions/ redirections).  From there we will work extreme close-range concepts to include clinch fighting, fundamental controls of the weapon-bearing limb, disengagement and termination tactics.

Attendees will learn how to rapidly build foundational “knife fighting” skills through a series of progressive drills.  We will employ the ecological dynamic theory in order for all students to discover their personal fighting preferences.  This portion of the course may include but is not limited to knife deployment, trapping and counter-trapping with edged weapons, attack sequencing, and pre-emptive use of edged weapons.

NOTE:  It is common for people to leave a seminar and find that they have forgotten all the information thrown at them.  So - as an added bonus - all attendees will be emailed a PDF from Elite Krav Maga with a detailed summary of the concepts and principles taught by GN in this Knife Work seminar.  This "cheat sheet" will be invaluable in furthering your knife fighting studies.  You can expect to receive it within a week after the seminar.

Notes from Paulo "GN" Rubio:

"There is no experience necessary to participate in the course.  The cardio requirement is low.  Students with higher athletic capabilities may partner up with each other in order to experience more intense iterations of the drills, games and exercises presented.

"Knife attacks are an ever-present threat anywhere in the world.  We cannot train nor prepare enough for it.  As such, the overall goal of this course is two-fold.  One is to
present students with a relevant and meaningful training experience to better prepare them for edged weapons attacks.  The second and more important purpose is to equip students with the knowledge and information to continue training on their own or with a trusted instructor, and to learn how to teach this material to a friend or loved one.

"Knife seminars can often be intimidating.  I assure you this will not be the case with this course.  While knife work can be a dark and serious subject, it is important for me to learn and teach in a supportive, encouraging and positive environment where each and every participant is responsible for each other’s safety.  Despite the seriousness of the topic, let’s have fun in the process.  We learn best this way.  I hope to see you soon."
